According to the data released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS), the economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia increased by 6.6% in January-March 2017 to compare with the same period of 2016.
According to the NSS, the utmost growth was registered in the industry sphere in the mentioned period. Namely, in January-March of this year, the industrial production volume rose by 16.1%, increasing by 11.7% compared to 2016.
Electricity production sphere also saw an increase comprising to 9.3%. Comparted to January-March 2016, this year the service volume (excluding the trade) rose by 10%.
The trade turnover increased by 1.3% in January-March 2017 to compare with the same period of 2016.
The NSS data indicates decline in construction and agriculture spheres. In particular, the volume of the gross agricultural output decreased by 1.5% from January to March of this year compared to the same period of the previous year, with construction volumes dropping by 13.6%.
The consumer prices, according to the NSS statistics, also dropped by 0.3% compared to January-March 2016.
As for the external trade turnover, it rose by 17.4 % in January-March 2017, with the exports increasing by 16.5 % and imports by 17.9%.
According to the NSS data, the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 1.1 % and the average annual wage by 1.2% in January-March 2017. In the public sector the average salary decreased by 1.8%, totaling to 155.000 AMD and in the private sector the average wage rose by 2.2%, amounting to 219.613 AMD.
